The stories told through cinema have the power to captivate us, inspire us, and fill us with wonder. When we watch a movie we momentarily live in worlds other than our own. The themes of Pixar films, from Toy Story to Coco, have universal appeal. They teach us about the nature of human experience and can be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds. We chose Pixar StudiO-Week as the theme for your O-Week because we believe it can help us make you a part of our wonderful community at McMurtry College. With every film that Pixar produces, they focus on developing relatable and captivating characters. The stories are meant for the audience to hold on to and learn from for the rest of their lives. Pixar StudiO-Week will  be the story that you create and keep with you for the rest of your time as an Owl and as a Murt.

As O-Week Coordinators, we strive to give you the opportunity to create friendships and memories that will last not only through Pixar StudiO-Week itself, but also until the day that you proudly depart the University from the Sallyport with a Rice diploma in hand. We want to create an environment in which you can bring your own unique values and experiences to McMurtry while encountering new perspectives along the way. We hope to give you the means to shape McMurtry culture for yourself in order to create the best environment for your personal growth and happiness.
